The most important qualities in my art are honesty and sensitivity. The figure has been the subject that has continually kept me on that path. The human form, whether it is a portrait or a full figure, is always a test for accuracy. But in a really magical way, it also allows me to explore my own inner creativity and expression.

It is the dialogue between the model and the artist that is often most amazing for me. The moments are precious and rare when I can really look at a person, then let the visual information travel into my eyes, through my brain, heart, and out my hand onto the canvas. It always turns out to be a truly miraculous experience that inevitably humbles me, and always keeps me coming back to the figure. |
