At SLVRMC, our commitment is to improving the health and well being of women and girls. The Women's Health Center provides a wide range of services:
OBSTETRICS
Obstetricians care for women during their pregnancy thru childbirth and after delivery. They are also specially trained to care for women with high-risk pregnancies. If needed they can do a cesarean section for delivery. In addition to Obstetricians, we have a Certified Nurse Midwife who provides care for many women with low risk pregnancies. At SLVRMC, we facilitate over 600 births per year and provide the only labor and delivery services in the San Luis Valley. We offer a wide range of Obstetrics services:
- Prenatal care for both low and high risk pregnancies
- On-site consultation with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists
- In-clinic ultrasonography
- In-clinic fetal monitoring
- Prenatal testing services
- Genetic counseling
- Lactation consultation
- Specialized management of diabetes during pregnancy
- Management of twin and triplet pregnancies
- Management of pregnancies for women over 35
- Management of pregnancies resulting from infertility treatment
- Outreach clinics in Del Norte and La Jara
- Specially trained nursing staff in the clinic and on Labor and Delivery to address Women's Health needs
GYNECOLOGY
Gynecologists care for women's health throughout their entire lives. As SLVRMC we have three Gynecologists as well as a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Women's Health. We provide a wide range of services, including the following:
- Well Woman Exams
- Breast cancer screening and mammography
- Screening for osteoporosis and bone density scans
- Cervical cancer screening, education and prevention
- Birth control
- Natural Family Planning
- Pre-conception counseling
- Infertility evaluation and initial treatment
- Permanent birth control including Essure tubal occlusion and surgical tubal ligation
- Hormone Replacement Therapy and education
- Management and treatment of heavy or irregular vaginal bleeding
- Management and treatment of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
- Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis
- Evaluation and treatment of bladder pain and dysfunction
- Minimally invasive surgery
- Evaluation and treatment of pelvic organ prolapse
- In clinic ultrasonography
- Outreach clinics in Del Norte and La Jara
