EMS: EMT - I
Job
Overview:
The EMT-I may be the lead person in charge of patient care in the pre-hospital
setting. He/she will help in all areas of patient care for E.R, ICU, MED SURG
ETC. The EMT-I will also be responsible for restocking and maintaining EMS
equipment and reporting any problem areas to EMS Supervisor / Director. The
EMT-I will also be assigned to take secondary call. (Dates may vary). The EMT-I
is responsible for maintaining all of his / her certifications that are required.
JOB
QUALIFICATIONSLicensure
and/or Certifications Required:
- Current
Colorado EMT-I certification. ACLS, PALS, BLS, PHTLS or equivalent.
Education
Required:
- High
school diploma or equivalent along with a current Colorado
state EMT-I certification
Knowledge
and Skills Required:
- ability
to make procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential
issues
- knowledge
of Pre- hospital patient care and EMS operations
- ability
to perform clinical operations and procedures
- ability
to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care needs
- current
with certification requirements and standards
ability to perform patient evaluation and triage procedures
- competent
with the use of instruments and equipment
- ability
to perform the procedures and standards for the administration
of medications and patient care aids
- high
energy level
- excellent
communication, organizational skills
Experience
Required:
- Prefer
some experience but not necessary
Basic
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge
of use of electronic media in healthcare facility
