Care Unit: Registered Nurse
Job
Overview:
The staff Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who functions as
both a care giver and care manager. The staff RN is in charge of patient assessment,
planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating. The RN is also responsible
for meeting the Standards of Practice.
The Staff RN directs and oversees the care of other care givers and is committed
to dealing with departmental issues involving self or other employees in a
professional manner. The RN ensures adherence to hospital and department policies
and procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure
and/or Certifications Required:
- Current
Colorado RN licensure, BLS. ACLS and PALS within 1 year. TNCC
within 2 years.
Education
Required:
- Graduate
of an accredited School of Nursing
Knowledge
and Skills Required:
- ability
to make procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential
issues
- knowledge
of nursing theory and application of the nursing process
- awareness
and compliance with Colorado Nurse Practice Act
- ability
to perform clinical operations and procedures
- ability
to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care needs
- current
with certification requirements and standards
- ability
to educate patient and family regarding medications and diagnosis
- competent
with the use of instruments and equipment
- ability
to perform the procedures and standards for the administration
of medications and patient care aids
- high
energy level
- excellent
communication, organizational skills
Experience
Required:
- 1
yr. Intensive Care Unit experience preferred
Computer
skills:
- knowledge
of use of electronic media in healthcare facility
