Surgical Unit: Licensed Practical Nurse
Job
Overview:
The staff Licensed Practical Nurse is a technical practitioner who functions
as a care giver. The staff LPN assists the nursing staff in implementing the
plan of care as determined by the RN. The staff LPN is committed to dealing
with departmental issues involving self or other employees in a courteous manner.
The Staff LPN ensures adherence to hospital and department policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure
and/or Certifications Required:
- Current
Colorado LPN licensure, BLS
Education
Required:
- Must
have graduated from accepted PN Program
Knowledge
and Skills Required:
- ability
to maintain sensitive, confidential information
- awareness
and compliance with Colorado Nurse Practice Act
- ability
to implement, and evaluate individual patient care needs
- ability
to educate patient and family regarding medications and diagnosis
- ability
to perform clinical operations and procedures
- ability
to perform the procedures and standards for the administration
of medications and patient care aids
- competent
with the use of instruments and equipment
- high
energy level
- excellent
communication, organizational skills
- compassion
and experience in multi-culture, bilingual community
Experience
Required:
- One
year medical/surgical preferred, BLS
Basic
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge
of use of electronic media in healthcare facility
