A hospitalist is a physician who works in the hospital full-time, serving the needs of hospitalized patients. This includes coordinating specialist care and working with healthcare personnel throughout the patient’s stay. Our hospitalists deal only with adult medical problems. This system is designed to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of care received by hospitalized patients.
This system, also, allows the primary care providers to be able to efficiently practice office based medicine. The hospitalist remains in regular contact with the patient’s primary care provider, providing frequent updates of the patient’s condition and treatment. After discharge, the hospitalist provides a summary of the patient’s treatment and follow-up care to the Primary Care Provider for ongoing outpatient care.
