SPEECH THERAPY
Speech therapy is used to assist in disorders of motor speech production. The problem can be congenital (present from birth) or acquired (resulting from stroke, head injury, or illness). The production understandable speech is very complex. When the brain wants to send a message it sends a series of signals to the speech muscles, telling them what to do. Even the muscles must then act in a coordinated fashion to produce the series of sounds intended. However, when something interrupts this process, a Speech Therapist is necessary to help build or rebuild speech patterns and abilities.
Some speech disorders are:
- Articulation/Phonology
- Stuttering
- Voice
- Apraxia
- Dysarthria
Need a paragraph about how speech therapy assists in these disorders.
