EMERGENCY SERVICES
The San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center is the major trauma Center in the San Luis Valley. We serve an area as large
as the State of New Jersey that is geographically isolated and among
the poorest counties in the State of Colorado. The 47,000 people
in the valley rely on our hospital to provide outstanding emergency
room services. Our leadership and staff in the emergency department,
including our physicians, have taken this role very seriously and
are proud to provide and superior level of care to our patients.
San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center has provided significant
resources and attention to our emergency services. The physicians
providing our Emergency Department coverage are well trained. In
addition, and we now have three Physicians who are Board Certified
in the Emergency/Trauma specialty.
In addition to providing emergency care, we have taken an active
role with regard to education and support of emergency services
in the community. We have a collaborative relationship with other
EMS and emergency services at the two critical access hospitals
in the valley. Our yearly patient volume is at 10,000 with a yearly
increase of 10%. The Emergency Room is staffed with all Registered
Nurses who are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric
Advanced Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nurse Critical Care), ENPC
(Emergency Nurse Pediatric Core Curriculum) certified.
