The Cardiopulmonary Services department at SLVRMC provides coverage 24 hours a day seven days a week. The staff of Respiratory Care Practitioners, both CRT and RRT, provide a full range of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in the inpatient acute care setting and specific diagnostic procedures on an outpatient basis.
The San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center is the major trauma Center in the San Luis Valley. We serve an area that is geographically isolated and among the poorest counties in the State of Colorado. The 47,000 people in the valley rely on our hospital to provide outstanding emergency room services.
The Imaging Services Department is full of activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From routine examinations to highly technical trauma scans and x-rays the staff consistently perform thousands of tests each year. The department produces quality studies on state-of-the-art equipment in each of their modalities.
Open M-F, 7am to 6pm for routine outpatient testing and staffed 24 hrs/7days a week for inpatient and emergency testing. Laboratory is inspected and accredited by the prestigious College of American Pathologists (CAP). The rigorous accreditation includes blind sample proficiency testing and regular on-site inspections.
Materials Management has been defined as a service oriented department design to manage the supply procurement system from acquisition to disposition. Included are the analysis, planning, implementation and control of systems and programs designed to achieve quality customer service, maximum cost efficiencies, standardization and simplification.
The Medical surgical and Intensive Care Units are located on the third floor of the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center. The professional team includes: physicians, nurses, respiratory and physical therapy, pharmacy, dietary and social services who support our commitment to "Making exceptional healthcare personal".
Oncology/Infusion Center offers cancer diagnostic services, treatment programs and support services for cancer patients. Our diagnostic services focus on early detection and cancer prevention through education and promotion of healthy lifestyles. For those with cancer, the Center provides care as directed by an individual’s oncologist and local doctor.

Rehabilitation greatly benefits patients who experience difficulties in the following areas:
- Limitations in self-care
- Improved mobility, balance and coordination
- Limitation in joint strength and motion
- Changes in memory, thought processing, reasoning and rational thinking
- Speech and communication problems
- Swallowing disorders
Our Surgery Department utilizes a block scheduling program and provides services for General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedic, ENT (Ear,Nose & Throat), Urology, Ophthalmology and Podiatry. We have current technology to perform a variety of surgical procedures, including, Laparascopy, Total joint replacement, Arthroscopy, Phacoemulsification, Ablation.
The American Red Cross Hospital Volunteers our facility is a group of community members whose philosophy stems from the sincere belief that all people are created equal, deserving of love and respect. This belief motivates them in their generosity to aid the sick either directly, or indirectly by cooperating with the hospital staff in prompting better patient care.
Joining the SLVRMC Ambassadors is another way you can volunteer at the hospital. These volunteers greet patients and visitors as they enter the hospital, assist anyone in locating patient room, waiting rooms, physicians or outpatient services. These very special people will give you information, directions or walk you to your destination anywhere in the facility.
