AMBASSADORS
The SLVRMC Ambassadors are a volunteer group which was created to assure that growing customer service needs at the hospital and physicians clinic were met.
The group was formed in November of 2005 and continues growing in numbers of volunteers and the services they provide. The main duty of this 0group of volunteers is to greet patients and visitors to the hospital and medical office building and direct them to their desired destination. They also provide wheelchair transports, assisting hospital personnel with patients in outpatient surgery and the emergency department. Among other duties, these volunteers dressed in their navy blue blazers provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to people who visit SLVRMC.
The Ambassador Volunteers must submit a background check and orientation before beginning their duties. They are then teamed with a seasoned volunteer for ongoing orientation to SLVRMC services. Orientations are held at least twice yearly. The 4 hour orientation includes basic customer service, patient privacy, wheelchair safety, infection control, and hospital codes and safety procedure trainings. Volunteers are asked to volunteer 4 hours per week; a morning or afternoon on the same day every week.
Future projects for the SLVRMC Ambassadors include the creation of a gift shop just off of the main atrium/café area of the hospital (coming June 07) and a valet service to aid visitors who need assistance from the parking area to the doors of the hospital or clinic.
