AMERICAN RED CROSS HOSPITAL VOLUNTEERS
The American Red Cross Hospital Volunteers, formerly called
Gray Ladies, is a very busy and helpful organization here at the hospital. They are men and women volunteers whose philosophy stems
from the sincere belief that all people are created equal, deserving
of love and respect. This belief motivates them in their generosity
to aid the sick either directly, or indirectly by cooperating with
the hospital staff in prompting better patient care.
This group of individuals can be seen throughout our hospital with their
bright smiles and helping hands. They perform a variety of duties
such as placing magazines and books in waiting rooms, locating wheelchairs,
delivering mail with the mail cart, assisting departments with filing
and organizing, delivering flowers and gifts to patients, offering
juice to patients, delivering late trays and one of their favorites,
assembling the first aid kits.
They attend monthly meetings, with their July meeting being their
annual meeting where they receive special recognition from the Red
Cross Chapter with certificates and pins for their time of service.
Our volunteers have served thousands of hours for the hospital. The time that they give and the
example of volunteering that they display are of great value to
our hospital and community. They are always happy to welcome a new
volunteer.
