Top 25 IT Leaders Honors Spencer Hamons
In the July 2007 issue of CIO Decisions Magazine, San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center CIO Spencer Hamons was named one of the nation’s top 25 IT Leaders in the mid-market business segment, spanning the 40,000 U.S. businesses with revenue between $50 million and $500 million annually.
Hamons was selected from more than 200 nominees from industries across the nation including healthcare, education, manufacturing, aerospace and financial sectors.
Honorees were chosen based on their outstanding achievement and leadership roles in aligning business and information technology.
Additionally, Hamons and SLV Regional Medical Center CEO Russ Johnson were honored with a cover story in the June issue of CIO Decisions Magazine where the focus was on fostering relationships between the CEO, Executive Management and the CIO.
Hamons is quoted in the article as, “I want to be the shining example of what you can do if you put the resources toward IT, put the right people in the right place,” says Hamons. “I want to be an advocate for rural health.”This is not the first time that Hamons has been honored. In September of 2006, Hamons was named one of the top Nine IT Innovators in the nation by Healthcare Informatics Magazine, and in 2005 was selected as one of 40 IT Leaders by the Joint Commission to serve on the national Health IT Advisory Panel.
Hamons produces a nationally distributed podcast surrounding issues related to health IT. This podcast is free to anyone interested and can be found at on the Internet or on ITunes. Spencer also has a professional photography and voice-over business that focuses primarily on the Rocky Mountain regions at Rockymountainfstop.com.
